My girlfriend thinks I play poker too much. She is angry with me and says I'm being an addict.
I don't see what the big fuss is about I only play about 10 hours a week.
All this started after I placed 7th at a sit and go, and spent almost 9 hours playing. It was my first time making it to the final table and definitely one of the longest times I've played so far.
Poker is a great hobby, it's not in anyway relaxing, but it takes my mind off work. Is 10 hours too much to ask for or should I throw in the towel?

I say that the amount you play is not too much at all.
If you weren't playing poker you'd probably be doing something like watching TV or playing some video games. At least with poker you got the potential to make money.
Just explain it like this to your girlfriend and I'm sure she'll understand.

There is no such thing as too much poker.
I spend more time stuck in traffic on a good week.

I'd say that any more than 9 or 10 hours a day is too much... any more than that, and you probably would never leave your house...
But a week? That is no problem!

Gambling versus Girlfriends is a real problem!
You have to set them straight right away but also you have to be fair, if you are going to spend some hours a day playing poker make sure you be nice and spend time with her, take her out to dinner, cinema …

This is a problem you can easily run into with a girlfriend around. Clearly she doesn't understand that you can't just sit and play poker for little 10 minute spurts but it's more of a 1 to 2 hour time commitment at least. The point is you're not playing too much. If she really has a problem with it, cut it back an hour or two.

10 hours per week is plenty of poker. Any more than that is an addiction. Think of it like any other addictions... take drinking... If you spend more than 10 hours per week drinking, you have a problem... If you spend 10 hours per week smoking, you have a problem.

Any way you look at it, 10 hours is too much time doing anything per week.
Except working, and of course, sleeping.
